Located in Thane within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, this 1,400 sq.ft. residence for Maksideo Design Consultants — reinterprets Japandi design through an Indian lens. Responding to a brief centred on originality, generous storage and allergy-conscious living, the home layers handmade Borobu tiles, Botticino Italian marble, hybrid textured veneers, emerald quartz and fluted laminates into a palette that’s tactile but restrained. A naturally dark foyer is resolved with a daylight-tunable stretch ceiling; a circulation-disrupting structural column becomes a sculptural double-sided TV unit. The result adapts Japandi principles to Indian rituals, climate and daily life rather than importing the trend wholesale.
